Surabaya Juara Favorit Guangzhou Award 2018

ARCHIPELAGO – Penghargaan Guangzhou Award 2018 dimenangkan Kota Milan dari Italia. Dalam edisi kali ini, Kota Milan mengunggulkan proyek keberlanjutan sistem pangan perkotaan yang mereka miliki.

Bagaimana dengan Kota Surabaya? Kota Pahlawan mendapatkan penghargaan sebagai kota terpopuler versi pilihan secara online. Pemenang ajang tersebut diumumkan, Jumat (7/12/2018) malam WIB.

“Surabaya berhasil menjadi kota favorit pada Guangzhou Award 2018 dengan mendapatkan lebih dari 1,5 juta suara daring,” kata Konsul Jenderal RI Untuk Guangzhou, Gustanto, melalui siaran pers.

Pengumuman ajang bergengsi tersebut disampaikan pada acara penutupan “The 4th Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation” yang diadakan di Baiyun International Convention Center, Guangzhou, pada 7 Desember 2018.

Penghargaan tersebut diterima langsung Wali Kota Surabaya Tri Rismaharini. Surabaya berhasil mengungguli 14 kota dari berbagai dunia yang menjadi finalis dalam kompetisi bergengsi.

Guangzhou Award diselenggarakan oleh United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis), dan Pemerintah Kota Guangzhou.

“Penghargaan Guangzhou Award ini menekankan pada inovasi dan pencapaian penting kota-kota di seluruh dunia, serta pembangunan yang harmonis dan berkelanjutan,” katanya.

Untuk Guangzhou Award 2018, kata dia, panitia telah menerima 273 aplikasi dari 193 kota di 66 negara. Dari jumlah tersebut, panitia kemudian menyeleksi dan memutuskan 15 finalis, dan membaginya ke dalam 4 kategori, yaitu “Accessible Cities”, “Cooperative Cities” , “Inclusive Cities”, dan “Resilient Cities”.

“Surabaya dengan proyek ‘Public Participation in 3R Waste Management for Better Surabaya’, termasuk dalam kategori ‘Cooperative Cities’,” ujarnya..

Selain Surabaya, lanjut dia, kota-kota finalis lainnya adalah Sydney (Australia), Repentigny (Canada), Milan (Italy), eThekwini (South Africa), Guadalajara (Mexico), Utrecht (Netherlands), New York (USA), Yiwu (China), Santa Ana (Costa Rica), Kazan (Russia), Mezitli (Turkey), Santa Fe (Argentina), Salvador (Brazil), dan Wuhan (China).

Kelima belas kota finalis juga mempresentasikan proyek terpilih mereka dalam International Seminar “On Learning from Urban Innovation” pada 6 Desember 2018, di hadapan dewan juri dan ratusan peserta seminar.

“Ibu Tri Rismaharani mempresentasikan langsung proyek kota Surabaya,” katanya.

Selain kota favorit, kata dia, dewan juri juga menentukan empat kota lainnya sebagai pemenang, yaitu Milan, Guadalajara, Wuhan, dan Mezitli.

Kota-kota tersebut berhasil mendapatkan Guangzhou Award berdasarkan tujuh aspek penilaian, antara lain orisinalitas program, dampak bagi masyarakat dan kota, serta spectrum partisipasi rakyat.(NUH/INFO SURABAYA)

Surabaya Favorite City Champion of 2018 Guangzhou Award

ARCHIPELAGO – 2018 Guangzhou Award won by Milan City from Italy. In this edition, the City of Milan prioritizes the sustainability of the urban food system they have.

What about the city of Surabaya? City of Heroes won an award as the most popular city of choice online. The winner of the event was announced on Friday (7/12/2018) night WIB.

“Surabaya managed to become a favorite city at the 2018 Guangzhou Award by getting more than 1.5 million votes online,” said the Indonesian Consul General for Guangzhou, Gustanto, through a press release.

The announcement of the prestigious event was delivered at the closing ceremony of “The 4th Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation” held at the Baiyun International Convention Center, Guangzhou, on December 7, 2018.

The award was received directly by the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini. Surabaya managed to surpass 14 cities from various worlds which became finalists in prestigious competitions.

The Guangzhou Award is organized by the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis), and the Guangzhou City Government.

“This Guangzhou Award will emphasize innovation and important achievements of cities around the world, as well as harmonious and sustainable development,” he said.

For the Guangzhou 2018 Award, he said, the committee has received 273 applications from 193 cities in 66 countries. Of these, the committee then selected and decided on 15 finalists, and divided them into 4 categories, namely “Accessible Cities”, “Cooperative Cities”, “Inclusive Cities”, and “Resilient Cities”.

“Surabaya with the ‘Public Participation in 3R Waste Management for Better Surabaya’ project, is included in the ‘Cooperative Cities’ category,” he said.

Besides Surabaya, he continued, other finalist cities were Sydney (Australia), Repentigny (Canada), Milan (Italy), eThekwini (South Africa), Guadalajara (Mexico), Utrecht (Netherlands), New York (USA), Yiwu (China), Santa Ana (Costa Rica), Kazan (Russia), Mezitli (Turkey), Santa Fe (Argentina), Salvador (Brazil), and Wuhan (China).

The 15 finalist cities also presented their selected projects in the International Seminar “On Learning from Urban Innovation” on December 6, 2018, in front of the jury and hundreds of seminar participants.

“Ms. Tri Rismaharani presented the Surabaya city project directly,” he said.

In addition to favorite cities, he said, the jury also determined four other cities as winners, namely Milan, Guadalajara, Wuhan, and Mezitli.

These cities managed to get the Guangzhou Award based on seven aspects of assessment, including program originality, impact on society and the city, and a spectrum of popular participation. (NUH/INFO SURABAYA)
